Committee Chairwoman

Team members:
Mimi Fitzgerald

Marty Merlo
Natalie Brunson

Purpose

The purpose of the Team Selection Committee is “to designate a leadership team for each Cursillo, selecting individuals who are spiritually prepared, well-versed in the Cursillo technique and method, and active in the School and in the Ultreya.”

How We Select Team Members

To guide us in the process, we use the following guidelines from The Fundamental Ideas of the Cursillo Movement to select team members who are:

  1. Roman Catholic
  2. Active in group reunion/ultreyas — or actively seeking a group reunion
  3. Knowledgeable/versed in the Cursillo technique and method
  4. Participating in Diocesan activities, e.g. Diocesan Ultreya, Closing, Reunion of Leaders, etc.
  5. Commit to participating in all team meetings (10) and entire weekend
  6. Commit to one-year follow-up with the candidates on the Cursillo weekend — be of assistance to new Cursillistas
  7. Ability to pay cost of weekend, presently $200.00 — arrangements regarding payment of costs may be considered (i.e., scholarships)
  8. At least one year since weekend experience
  9. Indicate a willingness to serve, to subordinate oneself for the group
  10. Respond to the call to be on team within 72 hours.

When calling a team, the Team Selection Committee shall explain to the potential team member the importance of the above and forward a hard copy or e-mail copy of the guidelines and request acknowledgement.

Other Guidelines

The Team Selection Committee shall:

  1. Have a clear idea of the purpose/methods of Cursillo
  2. Participate in Diocesan activities and local area/parish activities
  3. Use the list of names provided by the Secretariat as the source from which to call team members
  4. Provide a mix of experienced and non-experienced team members
  5. Provide a minimum of 1 year between teaming experience
  6. Have teams that represent the Arlington Diocese

 Update

The balmy days come and go and yet the spring blossoms are magnificent, blowing sometimes in chill winds.  The scripture speaks of the new life of resurrection and so we ask you to be open to this special season.  Team selection has just about finished the calls for the August women's team.  We will start to call the October men's team.  We ask you to pray if you are called and if you are not and would like to team, please call us.

As we prepare for some transition on this committee, we have added John and Toni Rausch and Kat Sigler.  I will be leaving in May to take over as Lay Director.and serve Cursillo in another way.

We have noticed in our calls this spring that we need women musicians.  It is wonderful if you play an  instrument and can lead the singing, but if you simply love to sing and are courageous enough to try leading a group, we would love to hear from you.  It is very similar to taking that first step, using and sharing your gifts, first with a team who are all doing the same thing and then with the community on the weekend.  Do you love to sing? Let us know!!

The other area we will be looking for help in is the kitchen  for the October weekend at Missionhurst - menu planning, shopping, cooking, serving and clean-up!!!  More about this later.
