Purpose

The purpose of the Team Selection Committee is “to designate a leadership team for each Cursillo, selecting individuals who are spiritually prepared, well-versed in the Cursillo technique and method, and active in the School and in the Ultreya.”

How We Select Team Members

To guide us in the process, we use the following guidelines from The Fundamental Ideas of the Cursillo Movement to select team members who are:

  1. Roman Catholic
  2. Active in group reunion/ultreyas — or actively seeking a group reunion
  3. Knowledgeable/versed in the Cursillo technique and method
  4. Participating in Diocesan activities, e.g. Diocesan Ultreya, Closing, Reunion of Leaders, etc.
  5. Commit to participating in all team meetings (10) and entire weekend
  6. Commit to one-year follow-up with the candidates on the Cursillo weekend — be of assistance to new Cursillistas
  7. Ability to pay cost of weekend, presently $250.00 — arrangements regarding payment of costs may be considered (i.e., scholarships)
  8. At least one year since weekend experience
  9. Indicate a willingness to serve, to subordinate oneself for the group
  10. Respond to the call to be on team within 72 hours.

When calling a team, the Team Selection Committee shall explain to the potential team member the importance of the above and forward a hard copy or e-mail copy of the guidelines and request acknowledgement.

Other Guidelines

The Team Selection Committee shall:

  1. Have a clear idea of the purpose/methods of Cursillo
  2. Participate in Diocesan activities and local area/parish activities
  3. Use the list of names provided by the Secretariat as the source from which to call team members
  4. Provide a mix of experienced and non-experienced team members
  5. Provide a minimum of 1 year between teaming experience
  6. Have teams that represent the Arlington Diocese
